QCTV’s coverage of high school sports concentrates on boys’ and girls’ basketball as well as boys’ and girls’ hockey. QCTV covers three sporting events per week. While insuring that every school gets some of their games recorded, Sports Director Bruce Chaffee tries to look for the better match-ups when setting his taping schedule. By doing this, QCTV’s viewers get to see a variety of teams and schools while being treated to a higher level of competition. To view the latest schedule and press release click here!

Many know that QCTV can transfer your home videos to DVD. But fewer know about our ability to convert audio cassettes and vinyl records to audio CDs. Converting the audio on CD is important for many reasons, but I would say the number one reason, is preservation. It’s hard to recreate Grandma’s voice. So go through the attic, closet or dresser and find those tapes and records. See ya soon.

While the majority of QCTV’s programming is recorded, edited and played back later, we are beginning to do more LIVE television shows.
Our previous LIVE programming has largely been city council meetings and other municipal events. Recently, we have been able to do the occasional high school sporting event — as long as that event was close to a cable return line.
Now, with the help of wireless technologies, QCTV is able to send out more event-type programming LIVE via our website (www.qctv.org). We can now go to an event (a parade, a baseball game, an award ceremony, a business luncheon, etc.), wirelessly connect that signal to our website and send that program out LIVE — not only to our four cities (Andover, Anoka, Champlin and Ramsey) but also to the entire planet.
So, the next time you see our QCTV crew recording an event, remember to smile if the camera points at you. Someone in Champlin — or China — may be watching that LIVE broadcast!
Traditionally, TV viewing goes down in the summer months. Nice weather. Outdoor projects. Vacations. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything worth watching. Far from it — especially on QCTV.
During the summer months, QCTV features some terrific Legion Baseball games as well as extensive coverage of our community events (Champlin’s Father Hennepin Festival and Andover’s Family Fun Fest) — both of which have been sent out LIVE on our website. QCTV also maintains a full lineup of our regular programming throughout the summer — no reruns here — along with our ongoing schedule of important and informational city council meetings (LIVE and taped).
So on those summer days when it’s raining or just too hot to be outside, don’t forget that QCTV is packing plenty of popular programming on Channels 15 and 16 — and on our website www.qctv.org.
It’s getting to be that time of year again — when hundreds and hundreds of high school seniors make that final walk to collect their diploma and start the next phase of their lives. QCTV will be covering the graduation ceremonies for Andover, Anoka and Champlin Park High Schools. If you would like your own DVD copy of your son’s or daughter’s graduation, they’ll be available from QCTV for only $25.
As QCTV enters the space between winter sports and spring sports, I thought it would be a good idea to replay some of the Concerts in the Park programs we’ve videotaped over the years. These concerts all took place at George Green Park in Anoka and, as you will clearly see, they were taped when the weather was much nicer than it is right now.
Concerts in the Park happened on Sunday nights. Sometimes the crowds were larger, sometimes not. Either way, the music was always good, always listenable and always got someone up dancing.
So while we wait for the snow to melt and summer to arrive, please enjoy these slices of summer – brought to you by your friends at QCTV.
